Onto the next one...
Feeling much less sore today, almost back to normal! :) Will be posting the recap sometime Friday or Saturday as I’d like to have some pictures intermingled with it. :) Today I got asked by practically everyone how my marathon went and everyone was astonished that I ran one. It’s not as crazy to me anymore, and that kind of saddens me. It’s lost its mystique a little, not that...

I slept like a rock last night, does that make sense? Got a solid 7 hour sleep. Despite the hotel alarm clock blasting music as an alarm at 12 AM right next to my face…was super pissed. Fell right back to sleep though! 1/2 Untoasted bagel with butter. Was in the bag with the bananas so it just tastes like banana. I hate when that happens, damn you bananas, you always do this! Calm,...

After going back and forth about my pace I decided that this will not be my last marathon and this one is dedicated to just having fun. That’s it. If my time sucks, so be it. I’m going to save my time goal for my next marathon because I really don’t know what I’m truly capable of. My training, while injury free, also called for slower running and no speed work. So speed is...

Restless sleep a little but got a solid 8-9 hour sleep. Check! (I’ve heard the more important sleep is two nights before the race.) Now to do a bit more packing and push mike out the door. Hoping to get there early enough to hit up the big farmers market they haveee! Burlington, here we commmmmeeeee!

Today has to be the best day of my life...
So first I got a personal good luck over the speaker today at school saying that I was running a marathon and so forth. Very sweet. Later in the morning, my supervisor said she needed my help working with some kids today, which has never happened before but I figured she must be really busy with the end of the year coming up so okay. I got the green light to leave my classroom for an hour as they...

I’ve been really slacking on this blog and tumblr in general I realize..and I apologize. Between work, my summer class starting up(with a boat load of reading and work), impending MARATHON, applying for jobs up the wazoo and figuring out a PT summer job (I did get a summer school teaching job! yayyy!—now need to just find a small PT job on the side), I am tired. I am so excited for...

3 days!
Still not nervous…still waiting for the shoe to drop so to speak…. I’m just very calm and it is almost freaking me out. I’m hoping this doesn’t all come tumbling down on me on Saturday…. In any case, pre-marathon MASSAGE TOMORROOOOWWW….and a half day of work at that. SWEET.

This time next week...
I’ll be in Burlington, pacing the hotel room, awaiting the alarm to go off at 5 AM.  I’ve actually been really positive all week and continually telling myself it is my first race and I will enjoy it. All those long runs by myself in training were the hard part, this will be the fun part. And I believe it. Pretty cool. I’m hoping all this anxiety doesn’t suddenly appear...

Why does mile 2-4 just stink?
Still surviving (and kind of enjoying…) the taper! Got my six miles in yesterday, felt great. I can feel my muscles are much more pleased with me than they were when I was running 40 miles a week. It is going to be weeeeeird only doing 8 tomorrow and only doing a handful this week.  I cannot get over the fact that during EVERY run that the first mile feels good and after that for about two...

Going on Tumblr is a good way to avoid what I’m supposed to be doing…applications. all night every night.  Yesterday’s run was one of those ‘everything hurts in my legs’ days. I think what probably happened is I was fairly stressed out, went wayyyy too fast the first mile, and my body responded with a ‘NU UH.’ I received the memo and walked accordingly. I...

I read some old posts today at the beginning of this journey. It’s funny to read about my ‘long run trials’ with eating and drinking because I am so set in my ways now and found my perfect formula. The first test consisted of a lotttt of gatorade(which I now hate the aftertaste) and performance bars(what?)? No no no. I’m glad I figured it out :) Speaking of perfect...

Keep it in perspective
Yesterday, I freed myself a little bit when I was thinking about the weather on race day. I thought, “I’m not going for a PR, all I’m doing here is finishing. That’s it. I have it easssssyyy on race day because I am just simply enjoying the race. Any bad weather will stink but it will make for a better story. If it affects my time, so be it.”  Gotta keep this...

12 days till 26.2...any advice?
Alright, it’s TIME to PREPARE. Things I need to do: Stay calm. Don’t injure myself.  Eat lots of carbs and not junk food. Is it time to start increasing carb intake?  Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Massage for next Wednesday (scheduled). Not check 10 day weather forecast every four seconds.  Think of strong mantra to put on my arm.  Seriously though, any advice at this point?

And the miles go dowwwwwn
Phew that run was hot with lots of sweating. Once the sun went down, it felt much better though. I actually ran a faster pace than normal which is odd. One thing that got me through it was the fact that this is really the only “long” run left in training. Next weekend is only 8 which is amazinggg. Two weeks away! Still excited and today’s run helped keep me confident!

Back in the game
Okay back in the gameeeee! Just got back from a 8.4 miler. Before anyone yells at me, I felt really good today! I think yesterday’s rest day helped my muscles recover. I had no intentions of going 8 today, I went out for my 5 miler and at 2.5 I felt pretty damn good so I said why not? I didn’t have water or energygels so that kinda stunk. I also ran the hilliest part of town, which...
