Currently running in the Maryland heat and humidity, 80+ degrees at 7 am?!
I feel that my body is laughing at me for not running up north before this trip.
Good training? Lots of walking?
**I am now home and while it was hot and I went extremelyyyy slow, I feel super productive and happy. Running is the strangest hobby.
In my thoughts on whether I wanted a salad with goat cheese or crispy asparagus, I’ve decided on crispy asparagus topped with goat cheese. YUM.
Finally joined my local running club. It only took a marathon to make me secure enough in my running ability to run with other people. Excited to go on a group run soon! :)
About to do my exercise video for my glutes and abs! Anyone else just feel silly when they do these video workouts? I find myself laughing because I know I do not look like those oh so graceful women. Might stick with the traditional exercises to avoid this self-embarrassment.
Tomorrow I run in the raiiiiin. Hopefully the thunder and lightning will lighten up in the afternoon. An innocent rainy...
ariavie replied to your post: And being in a competition with a man to lose weight isn’t fair either. Dudes almost always lose weight easier than us ladies.
True that. I also thought about that but he is so unhealthy (box of cheese-its for a late night snack) that I think I have a shot. Or at least it’ll get him thinking before eating that box. While we are both trying to...
ultratraillurel-deactivated2013 asked: Focusing on the # when it's "the last X lbs" is usually asking for trouble. You might not be meant to be 120, so you might not be able to lose it in a healthy way, or at all, really. All of your body parts will shrink as you gain muscle and lose fat, which might even mean gaining weight, but the inches will be lower. Before I started weight lifting more consistently I weighed...
ariavie answered your question: 10 lbs in 10 weeks??
I’m 5’6” and 120 and I’m not a twig at all. Your body will know when you get to “too little”.
runningintosunsets answered your question: 10 lbs in 10 weeks??
I’m 5’4” 120 and can run much better than when I was 130! I feel faster and lighter. My butt is gone. I guess the fat was mostly there too.
Thanks for your input guys! :) Once upon a...

10 lbs in 10 weeks??
Ok, I’m not the biggest fan of weightloss blogs, so I apologize in advance about this post.
Basically, I’m pretty happy with my weight but there’s always that ONNNEEE part of my body that just annoys me. Pretty much 100% of my fat resides in my butt. This makes it fun when clothes shopping as my waist has 0 fat on it, and well yeah, doesn’t work. So for about 7 years...
5 mile run, check.
I have defeated the 3 mile hump. While I have enjoyed this last month of being productive, eating what I want (within reason), and not exercising, I was starting to get worried. I think on average I ran once a week, all 3 miles long, and my weight aka muscles are all disappearing on me.
Today, not only did I complete a five miler, but really freaking loved it. I went a decent pace and really...
so HOT
Just took a nice dip in my indoor pool that happens to be the same size as a bathtub.
BOOM
Back in the game. Signed up for that 10K officially. :)
Baby steps.
running in the heat
Ok, running in the heat blows. I find myself wishing for winter often.
The main problem is that in the winter, it would get cold and dark extremely fast so I had no option but to run immediately when I got home. Perfect.
In the heat, I get home and it is freaking hot and I think, “Ooooh it will be cooler in a few hours when the sun is down, so I’ll just wait.” And then, it...
feels so good to be sore
So while I didn’t run yesterday, (ummm running in 98 degree weather, no thanks) I did play in the first softball game of the season! I did my fair amount of sprinting and scored our first run of the season…yeayyyyyaaah. Anyway, it felt good to be active and was a little less aware of the heat than if I just was straight running. I ended up feeling pretty sick I think from being in the...
Welp, run didn’t happen today and won’t be. Mike kept lifting me up last night trying to crack my back and so I woke up today with a very painful back.
Crossing my fingers that rest today will make me A-OK for tomorrow’s ziplining day!
I should note that after my last post that said I am still not running, I ran! 3 miles….31 min. Not terrible and tomorrow I’m going for 6! Time for this break to be over!
I am losing weight pretty quickly and 99% positive all lost weight was muscle. Damnit.
Yup, still busy.
Still not running.
But one thing has changed, I am ENGAGED.
Picking a new training schedule tonight, what shall it be?! Hmmmm…
In any case, I’m going for a 6-8 mile run tomorrow on a newly found trail in the area. It is 27 miles long which is amazing and makes me excited for a new long run route! I’ll have to carry my mace I guess but, worth it!
I have only run once since the marathon and I took it way too hard stupidly. These last...
The runner’s itch is coming, and coming fast. Anyone doing any fun races in the New England area this summer? Let me know and I will most likely sign up tonight haha.

Post race feelings
My end time ended up being 5:27. Beat the 5:30 CHECK.
Sometimes I think about my time and am disappointed that I didn’t push it more in training or during the race. But, then I realize how freaking far I’ve gone in just a year. A year ago today I could barely run 2 miles, and now, the sky is the limit. And I have a solid base to work on for future races. And no injuries. No regrets.

THE BIG DAY
5:15 wake up call!
Breakfast was a half raisin bagel with butter and a banana. Didn’t have a toaster, fridge, or microwave in our room so my typical oatmeal didn’t happen and the bagel didn’t get toasted but we lived. Got showered and ready and hit the shuttle at 7:10. We met Mike’s family right before we went on the shuttle for a quick picture!
I wrote in Sharpie the people I was dedicating...

Days and the night before the 26.2
Days before:
So two days before the race, I treated myself to a pre-race massage and this was a great decision. Not just because it loosened my body and muscles up, but because my energy and outlook became much more positive after talking with my masseuse. She talked a lot about how positive thinking really affects our body. Everytime I even thought about being nervous, I remembered to think...
It is time.
ALRIGHT. TONIGHT. This is the most built-up recap in the history of recaps. It is not that exciting but I just keep putting it off. To the applications, projects, and reading due tomorrow, I am officially shunning you for an hour!
About to go out on my first post-marathon jog. A little late but whateves, I enjoyed the break and had/have 10000 things to do.
It is rainy(has been for like 5 days!) and 55! Coooolld! Oh well, good jogging weather I guess. Off I go!
Finally mentally prepared to prepare my race recap. How do I embed photos in a text post?!

Ha this is me to the T…I seriously hateeee awkward small talk. And this is why I am terrible at networking, oops.
It’s been almost a week since I have run.
I was feeling good till a few days ago when one of my quads started hurting a little and feels strained. Normally I would run on it and shrug it off but I’m nervous to do so after the marathon. Higdon says to rest, rest, rest and if you’re unsure..rest. So I’ve been resting and starting to get restless. I guess I’ll give it...
